Pio Clementino Museum

This museum was created by popes Clement XIV (1769-1774) and Pius VI (1775-1799) to gather the most important Greek masterpieces preserved in the Vatican. The Round Room was built by Michelangelo Simonetti with full neoclassical style of the late Settecento. Indeed, the dome, 21.60 meters in diameter, mimics the Pantheon. The center has a large round stack, a porphyry monolith that's almost 5 meters wide, located before the Domus Aurea, and placed here in the late Settecento. The figure of Hercules in gilded bronze of the late second century is very interesting as it was found near the Theatre
