Old Port
When exploring south Manhattan, don't forget to go to Pier 17 (nicknamed the "Old Port") to admire the buildings of the Financial District from another angle. The urban setting of glass and steel stands in stark contrast to the port, a more authentic attraction complete with old sailing ships and a large wooden boardwalk. The area also has lots of nice bars and restaurants that have beautiful views over the ships and yachts.
