Phuong Nam

The food and staff are fantastic! One is definitely delicious, and since the shop is still open you can probably assume we didn't eat the owners.

We ordered the crocodile curry. Super tender and perfectly cooked. The broth wasn't overpowered by salt or 'fake meat' flavoring. You could tell they let this simmer for a loooong time to give it that nice meaty goodness. If you need a little more sodium in your broth use the fish paste. I like my pho on the spicy side, so I added red pepper

Our meal started with an order of seafood rolls and fried dumplings (shrimps). Both were cooked fresh and served hot and steaming. The seafood rolls were a particular favorite.The fried dumplings weren't too doughy either! They made sure to get a nice meat / dumpling ratio.

If there is 10 stars that we can give, I definitely give them 10 out of 10! This is one of the most famous Vietnamese restaurant in Mekong delta. The name and cute appearance of this place is well known among both young and elder, male and female. I have been wanted to visit here long long time, finally last weekend I had chance to been there.

Phuong Nam is around 7-10 min away from Can Tho bridge. You won't miss it with following Google map, you'll see big yellow box it says Phuong Nam, that is the place you'll have big fun.

The food menu is literally outstanding. They have various local alcohols, cocktails, soft drinks, dishes and even many kind of deserts.

Get ready for a weird ride. This place is a trip. How so? It's a combination of many components: the random décor of flower center pieces (many of them), rock metal music, animal figurines, Christmas lights, Fresh Prince of Bel Air song remix, some sort of promo recording of a Halloween store and of course the Miss Saigon mannequin that greets you at the entrance. It's real entertaining, even more so on holidays.

Despite the oddness of the place, the staff is super nice and the food extremely delicious. We came here on a Saturday around 2 pm and there was a steady flow of people coming in and out until we left.
