Enchanting, timeless beauty
More than any other, this beach embodies the tormented soul of Big Sur. Harsh, wild, windswept - rough and cold even in summer - with violent waves, but at the same time Pfeiffer Beach possesses an enchanting, timeless beauty. When the wind whips the white sand up, it can sting your skin. It is accessed by a road of about two miles, a little hidden, which branches off to the coast from Highway 1. The parking costs five dollars (with a bathroom available), then there is a short distance by foot. On the beach there are no kinds of services, and it is really nice to see a place still controlled by nature.
