Peratallada Wall and Moat
Impressive first entry in Peratallada, a medieval town declared a Historic-Artistic Site in 1975, for its medieval center. Cross the bridge and rock-cut ditch (a moat that protected the village), and through the Portal of the Virgin (the only well-preserved of the wall) to enter the beautiful medieval village of Peratallada. It was one of the best fortified Catalan towns. It must have cost them to cut so deep into the rock. It's impressive. The defensive system consisted of three wall enclosures.
