The old Fortress of Peniche
Peniche Fortress was the largest entry point by sea in ancient Portugal. During its existence was for various uses such as providing a safe haven for refugees from Boer early twentieth century, or serve as a prison for political prisoners between 1934 and 1974. Since 1984 it houses the City Museum. Access to the fort is free of charge. Worth a visit even if you enter the museum, since from the fortress you can see beautiful views of the coast and the Consolaçao beach. I highly recommended a visit.
