The Passage de l'Argue is a pedestrian...

The Passage de l'Argue is a pedestrian promenade built in 1825 by the architect Fargue. It imitates arcades as it is covered by a glass roof and wrought iron it began to be built in Paris at the same time. It was the first covered passage along with Lyon, and its architectural style is unique in the city. It allows you to move from Republic Square to the street of Edouard Herriot and Brest. The god Mercury is a statue and this place opened to the inhabitants in 1828. It is a copy of an Italian Renaissance work, and is in the central dome. The street was completely renovated, this former medieval street was very dirty with fifteen weaving workshops.

During the war, the Germans melted the statue of Mercury to make bombs, although they were met with much resistance, and it was later renovated in the 90s, a new statue to replace the old one. The same one that can be seen today.

The transition from Argue connects rue Edouard Herriot, the rue de la République and rue de Brest. It was built in 1825 by architect beading, and looks like a metal canopy gallery. Since the passage of the Argue became a busy shopping mall in the heart of Lyon's peninsula. Inside, a statue of the Roman god Mercury, god of commerce and travelers, symbolizes the mercantile side of the passage.
