Sailing the port by boat
The 6km-long port of Mahón is one of the most important in the entire Mediterranean. As a matter of fact, it serves, among other things, as a quarantine area for all arriving boats. The 6km. stretch includes residential areas, a sporting marina, and forts. Although you can explore parts of it on foot, it becomes complicated at times and I think the easiest way is by boat.
We chose the Catamaran Don Juan, one of the two options there are in the port. Both are “glass bottom” boats, but really they’re more like windows in the lower part of the boat rather than a traditional glass-bottom boat.
The day we went was a bit stormy, so we couldn't see much. On the other hand, staying on deck and watching the old forts along the port is really worth the trip.
