Second stop on the Freedom Trail

Excellent

Park Street Church is located on the corner of Park and Tremont street. You can visit from 8:30am to 3:30pm from Tuesday to Saturday but only during the summer. If you are interested in visiting outside of the hours, I recommend calling for an appointment. The most beautiful part of the church is the white spire that stands against the red bricks that make up the landscape of downtown Boston. The first speech in favor of the abolition of slavery (made by Garrison) was made here. For this reason, it is the second stop on the Freedom Trail. Don't miss the Old Granary Burying Ground behind the church.

There's also an exhibition of old photographs on the ground floor. The church services are held on the first floor.

Do Not Attend This Church

Excellent

Mark Booker, the Senior Minister, and all the Elders of Park Street Church are Biblically unfit to hold the positions that they hold.

In the Spring, 2022, Mark Booker took an ill-advised mission trip to multiple countries, including Turkey. This was foolhardy, because he had been installed as Senior Minister in November, 2021. The church had a failed members' meeting and was in turmoil. Mark Booker was needed in Boston; he should have sent the Minister of Missions on this trip and held off for another year. Moreover, he withdrew his teenage daughter (who was not a senior) from Trinity High School, Boston, so she could accompany him on this trip.

Making matters worse is this: Mark Booker had meetings at the church the Friday after he returned. He showed-up to the meetings, sick. At that time, Boston was in the midst of a significant outbreak of COVID-19. The ladies who ran the Women's Benevolent Society decided that it was not safe to hold in-person meetings. The correct thing for Mark Booker to have done was to stay home, which he didn't. That Sunday, he preached at all services and held a Meet and Greet (COVID-19). He was sick and held his Meet and Greet, exposing hundreds of people to COVID-19. That Monday, he tested positive for COVID-19.

Things get even worse. He does not follow the advise of public health officials to notify those who he might have exposed to COVID-19 and to provide information about this. I know that Park Street Church has a very large, general church news e-mail list. He was morally and ethically required to send out a notice on that e-mail list, informing people that he had COVID-19 and exposed others to it. He didn't do this. I found out that he had COVID-19 through the church grapevine. Yes, he did put a notice in the church bulletin--it was short and buried fairly close to the back.

This is not the only instance of unethical behavior by Mark Booker. The Board of Elders was morally and ethically required to terminate this man, for he proved to lack the moral and ethical foundations required of a Senior Minister.
