Parish Church of San Miguel

Apulia Parish Church is dedicated to St. Michael, whose feast is celebrated on May 8. Despite its appearance, it was actually constructed very recently: it was built in 1945, in the same place where the original church had stood, dating from the seventeenth century but which had fallen into ruin. The project was supervised by the architect José María de Viana, but in 2000 the plan was expanded to a design by the architect Luis Cunha. It is neoclassical in style, and has two tall bell towers on each side of the main body of the church, where the patron saint's image placed within a niche. The interior has three naves and retains a beautiful Renaissance heritage, the rest is all new.
