Parish Church of Gargunnock
At the top of a hill, perhaps at the highest part of the town, stands the old stone church ("auld kirk"). The current building dates back to 1774 when the damaged structure was modified by another existing church there, which according to existing documents was built in 1626. There is evidence that there were other older churches in that location, because the historic cemetery next to the church is much older, possibly from the thirteenth or fourteenth century. The church is in full working condition and belongs to the Church of Scotland. However the cemetery is under the care of the Commission on Ancient Monuments Maintenance of Scotland, so it is not freely available to visit - although you can ask for a temporary permit.
