Parador de Zafra

Spending a weekend in this Parador is a dream, especially now since there are a lot of great deals to be had in all the Spanish Paradors.

The Parador is located in a 15th-century castle and has two main strengths: a.) the fact that you’re sleeping in a castle, and b.) the spectacular central courtyard.

You can have breakfast in the central courtyard (as opposed to an interior dining room) or have a refreshing drink when you arrive back at the hotel after a long day of visiting the countryside.

I should also mention there’s a pool that looked wonderful although I didn’t have time to take a dip myself.

In a beautiful and well preserved fifteenth century castle previously owned by the famous Dukes of Feria, stands this Parador nacional (state-run luxury hotel).

We were there in the summer, enjoying its walls, interior patio, pool and great restaurant specializing in Extremadura cuisine. A site worthy of visiting.
