Parador de León

The San Marcos Hostel is part of the parador (state-run hotel) network. Its five stars and is where the personalities’ who go to the city stay.

Although no one knows who I am, I have stayed there several times and it’s a great place. A former convent and hospital for pilgrims traveling to Santiago, in the twelfth century, it is one of the architectural jewels of Leon.

It is also centrally located so you can go for a walk around town without taking a taxi. The décor is Castilian like all paradors’. I love it.

Going to Leon is a treat. Staying at the parador (state-run luxury hotel) is another added luxury.

San Marco Hostel in itself is a museum, a Renaissance masterpiece, an essential tourist stop. It merged the pilgrimage route with the Ruta de la Plata (Silver Route). Well, it is difficult to merge with these temperatures that swarm the streets of Leon, but it's all about good company ... No?

Just a visit to this magnificent parador (state-run luxury hotel) makes it worth the journey to León.

A renovated antique hospital, it was one of the first paradors’ in the network to begin to operate.

With a little luck, and if they are vacant, they’ll let you see the royal apartments. Wonderful and you can go by AVE (high speed railway service).

It shares with the Reyes Católicos Hostel in Santiago de Compostela the privilege of being the only five-star parador (state-run hotel).
