It is Worth Paying a Little More

This hotel is located in a historical building: the old convent of the Dominicos de San Pablo, built in the 16th century. It's found in the outskirts of the city, in front of the famous Casas Colgadas. To get there you have to cross the iron bridge above the Hoz del Huécar. The building, as well as the environment and the views, is very beautiful. The building maintains its original architecture. The premises are situated around the central cloister and covered with windows so it can be used as a cafeteria.

My room was huge, with a rural surface (covered with a carpet) and wooden furniture of rural style, in line with the aesthetics of the old convent. Over the headboards there was a sort of canopy. In front of the bed there was a piece of furniture that looked like an old cupboard where the TV and the minibar were hidden. Next to it there was a full body mirror and a living room area with two small armchairs and a low table. From the window we had spectacular views of the gorge of Huecar River. The bathroom was also quite large, with everything you need, including a hairdryer.

    A Superb Environment

The Parador of Cuenca is, without a doubt, the best option to stay in the city, unless you have a very limited budget. It is a building full of history, since it used to be the convent of San Pablo in the old days. It is located on the bank of the Hoz del Huécar, one of Cuenca's surrounding rivers, making its natural environment superb and with unbeatable views.

The landscape you see through the windows looks like a postcard: you can admire the Casas Colgadas, the San Pablo bridge and the city of Cuenca in the background, plus the river in the front, obviously.

Even if you don't stay there you can go for a visit. There is a cultural center annexed to it called the "Espacio Torner". You can also see the old cloister and enjoy the warm atmosphere of the cafeteria.

Modern art, it's small but wonderful

    Excellent

A very short trip to Cuenca, only 50 minutes in the "cercanías" train, will bring you to Cuenca. Beautiful kittle town with hanging houses. Arrive to the station and get a taxi to the Cathedral. You'll find a Café that sells the city walking tour (only 10 Euros including Cathedral).

Make surentonarrive before 12 as the tour starts 12:15, also bring very confortable shoes, lots of heels and walking.

After thebtour, enjoy lunch in El Parador (Hotel), next to the bridge. Ask for the tasting Menú and please try the Manchego Cheese Icecream.

Don't miss the small museum next
