Cathedral and Archbishop's Palace

Located in the southern part of the city, this large, beautiful square is one of the most visited parts of Palermo, as here you'll find the cathedral and the archbishop's palace (now a museum). This spacious forecourt was built by Archbishop Simone di Bologna in 1452. It is enclosed by a stone balustrade decorated with imposing statues. It was made in 1761. In this square is the main entrance to the Cathedral, through magnificent Gothic arches built by Antonio Catalan Gambara in 1426. In front of the entrance, you can see gardens and the statue of Santa Rosalia, located in the centre of the square.
