Palacio Valdés Theatre
The Teatro Palacio Valdés was declared a cultural site in 1983. It was named after the renowned writer Armando Palacio Valdés, of whom there is a statue in front of the main facade. It was built in the early twentieth century (1920) to the Italian Neo-Baroque design of the famous architect Manuel del Busto. Its facade features its great ornamentation and large windows. The theater of Avilés is the main stage area of the region, used for all kinds of cultural and theatrical performances, like music, opera and dance. It seats 747 people.
