Palacio de los Castejones

Fue una pena que el palacio estuviera cerrado a nuestro paso por Ágreda, ya que habíamos leído auténticas maravillas sobre su historia, sus jardines y sus leyendas. Pero bueno, como hay que conformarse con lo que el viaje nos ofrece, al menos disfrutamos de su vista exterior que daba muchas pistas sobre lo que nos habíamos perdido. Las piedras de su fachada nos hablaron de lo imponentes que fueron, del ánimo de la familia Castejón al levantarla para hospedar a nobles y reyes que pasaran por la villa cuando era frontera con los reinos del Islam. Sin desmerecer la sangre azul de antaño, hoy el edificio alberga dependencias municipales que engloban una biblioteca, la escuela de música, un centro cultural, una sala de exposiciones, la ludoteca, y todo lo que se tercie, porque espacio le sobra. Pero no todo fue un camino de rosas para el palacio, ya que tras su época de esplendor a comienzos del siglo XIX, sufrió tal abandono que lo convirtió en escuela, cárcel, juzgado y...¡viviendas!. Ya sólo con estas historias y con la hermosísima fachada del palacio nos quedamos satisfechos. Pero dentro guarda otros tesoros que debemos dejar para una visita futura.
