Palacio Boris Sarafov

El Palacio Boris Sarafov es uno de los nuevos edificios construidos en la capital macedonia bajo el proyecto “Skopje 2014”, que pretende restaurar por completo la ciudad para darle un aspecto neoclásico y mejorar su atractivo turístico. Su construcción comenzó en el año 2010 y desde su inauguración es sede del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores de la República de Macedonia. El edificio cuenta con dos sótanos y siete pisos de altura, además de una terraza en la parte superior. Su costo total excedió los 13 millones de euros, y con 88,6 metros de altura está entre los más elevados del centro de Skopje. El nombre del palacio proviene de uno de los líderes más importantes de la lucha macedonia en contra del Imperio Otomano, Boris Sarafov. Si bien nació en territorio de lo que hoy es la República de Bulgaria, se le considera étnicamente macedonio. Sarafov fue asesinado en la ciudad de Sofía por el entonces gobierno izquierdista de la nación, y pasó a la historia macedonia como un héroe nacional. Justo frente al palacio se encuentra el Paseo Dimitar Vlahov, que bordea el río Vardar y lleva hasta la famosa Plaza Macedonia. No se tratará de una zona histórica original, pero no deja de ser un área agradable para dar un paseo por la ciudad.

Boris Sarafov Palace is one of the new buildings built in the Macedonian capital under the project "Skopje 2014", which aims to completely restore the city to give it a neoclassical look and improve its tourist attraction. The building has two basements and seven floors in height, plus a terrace at the top. Its total cost exceeded 13 million euros, and with 88.6 meters it is among the highest in the center of Skopje. The name of the palace comes from one of the most important leaders of the Macedonian struggle against the Ottoman Empire, Boris Sarafov. Although born in territory of what is now the Republic of Bulgaria, it is considered ethnically Macedonian. Sarafov was assassinated in the city of Sofia by the then leftist government of the nation, and happened to the Macedonian history like a national hero. Just in front of the palace is the Dimitar Vlahov Promenade, which borders the Vardar River and leads to the famous Plaza Macedonia. It will not be an original historical area, but it is still a pleasant area to take a walk around the city.
