Palace of the Counts of Monterrei and Tower of the Ladies

Este palacio se encuentra en uno de los lados del patio de armas del antiguo [poi=83520]Castillo Fortaleza de Monterrei[/poi], a unos 3 Km de Verín. Fue construido a finales del siglo XVI o comienzos del XVII, en estilo renacentista, con dos alturas. Tiene dos elementos destacables en su fachada: Por un lado, el pórtico que precede la entrada, formado por arcos apoyados sobre columnas, que presentan un escudo distinto cada una de ellas. Por otro lado, esta galería de columnas se apoya en la llamada "torre de las damas", una torre del siglo XVI de planta circular perteneciente a uno de los tres sistemas amurallados que tiene este recinto fortaleza. El palacio es el único edificio que ha sido recientemente rehabilitado para albergar en su interior un pequeño [poi=83544]Museo de Arte Sacro[/poi]. Puede visitarse de miércoles a domingos de 10.30 a 13.30h y de 17 a 20h. Es gratuito.

This palace is on one side of the courtyard of the ancient fortress Monterrei Castle, about 3 km from Verin. It was built in the late sixteenth century or early seventeenth century, in Renaissance style, with two heights. It has two outstanding elements in its facade: On the one hand, the porch preceding the entrance, formed by arches supported on columns, which have a different shield each. On the other hand, this gallery of columns is based on the "Tower of the Ladies", a tower of the XVI century circular belonging to one of the three walled enclosure systems that have this strength. The palace is the only building that has been recently renovated to house inside a small Museum of Sacred Art. You can visit from Wednesday to Sunday from 10.30 to 13.30 and from 17 to 20h. Is free.
