Padul´s Lagoon

En el municipio de Padul, la Laguna o Humedal de Padul es una zona protegida como Área de Reserva dentro del parque natural de Sierra Nevada. Ocupa una superficie próxima a 300 Has. Por su riqueza biológica, así como por su interés geológico, este humedal está considerado como uno de los más importantes del sureste peninsular. Además de lo dicho, hay otras razones de índole científica, como la de ser un referente indiscutible para los estudiosos del paleoambiente de la región mediterránea y lugar donde aparecen, con cierta frecuencia, restos de mamut y otros animales prehistóricos. Es por todo ello, que este humedal se ha declarado como Zona de Especial Protección para las Aves (ZEPA) y se encuentra dentro del convenio RAMSAR, como Humedal de Importancia Internacional.

El paseo se puede hacer de forma circular (hay 3 rutas diferentes) o bien salir del aula y volver al punto de partida por el mismo camino. No entraña mucha dificultad y el desnivel es mínimo. Los paisajes y unos simpáticos cangrejos de río hacen el paseo más entretenido. Hay varios observatorios de aves y uno con merendero, cerca de la fuente del tío miguel Se tarda un par de horas yendo en plan tranquilo (siempre te puedes dar la vuelta cuando quieras) o unas 3 o 4 horas en darle la vuelta a la laguna (por el camino más corto) Se puede hacer con niños
