Pabellones del palacio Real

Visitar Mandalay conlleva casi por fuerza visitar su palacio real (no hay mucho más en esta ciudad, salvo los bonitos y pintorescos pueblos cercanos). Aunque ha sido reconstruido casi en su totalidad en las últimas décadas, el palacio es una muestra arquitectónica de arte birmano, el cual bebe de Tailandia, arquitectura hmer y también china. Dicho de otra forma, si llevas meses viajando por estas tierras, te resultará familiar. Si vienes a Mandalay sin haber explorado mucho en la región sudasiática te sorprenderán bastante sus formas y símbolos. Es bonito y se puede invertir una mañana visitando y sufriendo el calor que azota la zona, si bien es un poco caro para lo que verdaderamente es el palacio. Llama la atención, por el gobierno que rige en Myanmar, las estrictas normas que afectan a este lugar. Los extranjeros únicamente pueden acceder por la puerta Este. Ojo si no os dais cuenta porque tendréis que caminar un buen trecho para llegar al otro lado. Si vais en bicicleta desde vuestro hospedaje (algo muy recomendable) hay un arco principal que no permiten transitar en bicicleta o moto…sino que tiene que hacerse andando. Entendimos que era un lugar sagrado y una forma de mostrar respeto y pleitesía a los monarcas.
