Osu Kannon Temple

This temple is one of the most important temples to be found in Nagoya and it has become a kind of symbol for the city. The temple isn´t particularly big or majestic, but historically it was very powerful, and great treasures and relics were housed here (most of them lost) and it has been rebuilt several times, having lived through several catastrophes, hence its importance . In 1605 was one of the worst, a flood that almost took the whole temple away, just some of its relics were saved. So the temple was rebuilt in a safer place and further away from rivers in order to prevent potential flooding while maintaining its strategic position as a lookout position for possible entries from the south of Nagoya Castle.

Ozu Kannon Temple is in th vicinity of Ozu Kannon Station in the center of Nagoya. The temple is a reconstruction of the 20th century, however that does not stop the visits of devotees and tourists. Near the temple there are some interesting shopping areas with many stores and cheap restaurants for visitors to try out.

Situated in the center of Nagoya, this temple is next to the shopping area with the same name, it is easy to get to by metro or walk from JR Nagoya Station, the temples are beautiful, and have been reconstructed over the past century, but have a great aspect, color and feel of peace, and there are not too many tourists so you can enjoy some peace. It is located beside the shopping area full of restaurants, shops so it's a good place to see if you visit Nagoya
