Oratory of Purity

Può passare quasi inosservato, perché l'edificio non è appariscente ed è aperto soltanto durante le funzioni religiose. Si trova a fianco del Duomo, di cui costituisce una dipendenza a partire dal 1700, quando da teatro fu trasformato in luogo sacro, per volontà dell’allora patriarca di Aquileia. Giambattista Tiepolo, insieme al figlio Giandomenico, fu incaricato della decorazione della chiesa: il padre dipinse la pala dell’altare maggiore, dedicata all’Immacolata, e l’affresco del soffitto, dedicato all’Assunta (con Glora degli Angeli nei riquadri minori, che costituisce una delle sue opere più importanti e famose. Giandomenico, invece, dipinse le pareti della chiesa con otto scomparti a monocromo grigio su fondo oro con otto scene di soggetto biblico. Le visite all'Oratorio della Purità vengono effettuate su richiesta, rivolgendosi alla Sacrestia del Duomo stesso.

It can pass almost unnoticed, because the building is not flashy and is open only during religious services.
