Opatija

Opatija is a beautiful town on the coast of Croatia. About 10 kms from the city of Rijeka. To get here, you can take one of the city buses that depart every 20 minutes from Rijeka. If you're coming from Trieste in Italy, there is a direct bus. We drove, but the village is built on the coast, so you have to leave the car a little way outside the centre, as its streets are mainly pedestrianised. In the western part of the town, there is a pretty fishing harbour, and then along the avenue (like a boardwalk) along the coast, you can reach the centre and a few more touristy places. In the background gazing out from Opatija you can the see the more industrail part of Rijeka, not the prettiest sight.
