The native peoples of North America have not been well-treated by history, let alone by the colonizers. On my trip to Canada I had the opportunity to visit a reservation of Ferrets. If that doesn't ring a bell, they appear in "The Last of the Mohicans" by James Fenimore Cooper, in the movie of the same name. A guide explained in detail what his his life was like and showed us their huts and everyday objects and ceremonial. Then we visited a shop and dined in the restaurant. It was very good. The worst thing was that it was dark, it was raining and we could not see things in detail. I liked the visit especially to know the other side of the coin.
