On the frontier

Trade in Elvas supplied in previous years a significant amount of coffee, woolens, linens and china from Macao to Spanish tourists. Succulent menus offered at affordable prices. Today, Elvas has no major movement of the past but remains in good condition and its historic center, especially, its medieval castle. The aqueduct is still an impressive image on the outskirts of town.

Portuguese Facades

It would be impossible to imagine a Portugese street that is not dominated by the colors of white and yellow. But not just any white or any yellow. Nice Portuguese town 15 km from...

Nice Portuguese town 15 km from Badajoz. Once had a strong commercial interest. Many Spanish came to visit in order to buy tablecloths, towels, tea, sweets and crafts. It has a special charm, especially at sunset, when the streets are filled with dim lights. It is very peculiar cast its quaint shops still retain their original charm. We go back a few years in time. I recommend a leisurely stroll through the city.

Good prices, friendly people

A nice town to go see the walls and aqueduct, to eat downtown for 7 euros. If you're going to Badajoz don't hesitate to pass through Elvas by only getting on the Portugal A5. The whole city has a wall around it, similar to the style of Pamplona and Jaca. The townspeople are very friendly and the prices to buy anything and eat are very good for a tourist site.
