Old School of the Dominican - Municipal Historical Archive

Lo que fuera el Colegio de las Dominicas es ahora la sede del Archivo Histórico Municipal (el más valioso de la isla por su antigüedad y número de documentos) y alberga también algunas dependencias municipales (forma parte de las llamadas "Casas Consistoriales"). Es un magnífico edificio neogótico de dos plantas de altura, construido en el siglo XVIII pero modificado por Mariano Estanga a principios del siglo . Está situado justo al lado del [poi=79636]Ayuntamiento de La Laguna[/poi]. La fachada está decorada con motivos historicistas propios del gótico tardío. Destaca en la parte izquierda la imagen de Santo Domingo de Guzmán, símbolo de la orden dominica. Las distintas dependencias se estructuran en torno a un patio central. En su interior, las paredes están revestidas con un zócalo de azulejos y el techo está cubierto con un artesonado de madera.

Whatever the Dominican College is now the headquarters of the Municipal Historical Archive (the most valuable of the island due to its age and number of documents) and also houses some municipal offices (part of the so-called "town hall"). It is a magnificent neo-Gothic building two stories high, built in the eighteenth century but modified by Mariano Estanga early in the century. It is located right next to the City of La Laguna. The facade is decorated with its own late Gothic historicist motifs. Stresses on the left side the image of Santo Domingo de Guzman, symbol of the order dominica. The different units are structured around a central courtyard. Inside, the walls are coated with a tiled plinth and the roof is covered with wood paneling.
