Florida's first school
The Old School House was the first school in the state of Florida, built in the city of St Augustine. The exact date of its construction is unknown, but it first appears in the tax records in 1716. The teacher and his family lived on the top floor, above the classroom, and the kitchen was in a separate building so as to avoid the possibility of a fire spreading. An interesting place to visit!
