Perhaps the oldest pub in Newcastle

Some say that Old George is the oldest pub in Newcastle. And while this legend is hotly contested by two other pubs, Old George is certainly an old pub with lots of history. It was built in the seventeenth century and it was a stopping point for carriages complete with a barn for horses, a garage for the coach and a hotel for men. The pub is located near the Cathedral of Saint Nicholas behind the Bigg Market. It is built on three levels and is quite welcoming,.
