Living Museum in Cherokee
The Oconaluftee Indian Village in Cherokee was located in the foothills of the lush Smoky Mountains. Our guided tour of the living museum began with some young Cherokee people doing some local dances. Then our large group was split up and guided by the same people who just danced for us. My group leader was incredibly nice and knowledgeable about the different exhibits that we viewed. In the exhibits we could talk to elders who were in the process of making different handicrafts such as pottery, carving, or basketry.
