The Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek is an art museum located in the center of Copenhagen, next to Tivoli Gardens and the City Hall. The collection comes from the personal fund of Carl Jacobsen, founder of the Carlsberg brewery. At first, it was a sculpture museum focusing on classical Egyptian, Roman and Greek sculptures. But now it has diversified and the collections include paintings by masters like Renoir, Van Gogh and Cezanne, as well as Danish classics. Jacobsen was an art lover ve donated his works for the creation of a museum in 1882; it opened to the public shortly afterwards. It was renovated in 2006, and houses 10,000 works of art.
