Tunisia's independence
There's a square decorated to November 7th in practically all Tunisian cities due to the fact that the current Republic of Tunisia declared its independence on November 7th, 1956 with the first president Zine El Abidine Ben Ali. In Monastir, the square is located between the Bourguiba Mosque and Ribat of Harthema. It is a large rectangular square with manicured lawns and tall palm trees. In the center is a modern monument commemorating the country's independence a large number 7. On one side of the square is the Tourist Information Office and a tourist train stop.
