The river gates
The old town has three gates. There´s the northern door or the one by the river that dates back to 1555. The western gate or the one of the sea is from 1540 and is the main entrance. The last one is the southern gate or the Gurdic. The gate is connected to the outside by a bridge over the canal and the Skurda river and is set between the bastion Bembo and the Riva, both from the sixteenth century. Once you cross the doors from outside the square, you´ll find the plaza od Drva and the church of Santa Maria.
