Important symbol
The Nippon Maru is an important symbol of Yokohama and the Minato Mirai 21 port area. This contrasts sharply with the old skyscrapers and futuristic buildings that exist in this area of artificial islands. This boat was built in 1930 and is an icon of the impressive growth of Yokohama. Orginally, a small fishing village, it´s now the second largest city in Japan. Getting to the boat is very easy, as it is right in front of the Landmark Tower. The entrance to the Nippon Maru costs 600 yen and also gets you entry into the Yokohama Maritime Museum which is dedicated primarily to the boat. Inside
