Ninilchik Village
The village of Ninilchik is on the Kenai Peninsula in southern Alaska, in the USA. The village is small, but it attracts a lot of tourism in the summer because of the fishing you can do there. The word Ninilchik means "peaceful village next to a river" in the Athabascan language. Two rivers pass through the town, Deep Creek and the Ninilchik. This town was established by the Russians as a stop on the fur trade in the late 18th century. There are many Orthodox Russians still living near the village. The town is also very famous for its clams, which can be found on the beach during certain times of year when the tide is low.
