Nevado Huaytapallana

Huaytapallana means "place where flowers are collected." The snowy Huaytapallana his located at an altitude of 5,557 metres. The second peak, the Yanahucsha, is 5530 metres. This snowy summit is located 1 hour from the city of Huancayo and 8 hours from Lima - Peru. The area is surrounded by seven lakes and in the pictures I took of them can be seen Cochagrande. The Huaytapallana is mystical, in the months of August many witches and shamans walk the 25 km from the city of Huancayo, just to make the "pagapo" or payment to land, by performing the ritual of burying food in ice, burying animals alive, coca leaves and amongst other things.
