Nauplia

Nafplion is one of those places that seems to exist only in the movies. It is a tiny village with a port. Bourtzi Fortress is about 600 meters west of the port. It is very striking, with some walls built by the Venetians. To visit you must take a boat in the far northeast of Akti Miaouli, the price is 5 euros return. It is a fantastic place to relax. The views are amazing because in addition to seeing the island fortress we can also see Acronauplia and Palamedes. The old town of Nafplion also has a special charm, so, for many people, this small village is one of the most beautiful in all of Greece.

Walking through the narrow lanes you can see impressive Venetian houses and beautiful neoclassical mansions with balconies full of flowers. There are lots of lovely cafes. At the weekend it is filled with people from Athens who come here to get away from the city.
