An amazing site to see
Cambara do Sul is the nearest town to the national parks Aparados da Serra and Serra Geral. These parks are visited mostly by Brazilians and very little by foreigners, even though I found them to be extraordinary. The two parks are great canyons formed by towering rock walls, surrounded by Atlantic forest and Araucarias trees. In Aparados da Serra National Park you'll find the canyon Itaimbezinho ("stone cut out" in Guarani), which measures 720 m deep and six kilometers long.
During my visit there was a natural phenomenon caused by high humidity and high temperatures that kept me from seeing the full extent of the canyon, because at the time the canyon looked like a factory of fog.
I just heard the roar of the waterfalls falling into the canyon, and admired the splendid forests of pine, a conifer that comes straight from prehistory. Despite the fog, I completed the two paths: the trilha do Vertex, which runs parallel to one side of the canyon, and Cotovelo trilha on the other, a total of 10 km. Because of the mist, I left my camera in the backpack.
