Odd and interesting exhibits
Madrid's National Museum of Anthropology is an interesting rainy-day kind of place. it's not very big and can be visited in around 45min. It features sections for Asia, Africa, and the Americas and catalogues lots of daily items, traditional costumes, and artifacts from these regions from the primitive era until the 19th century.
By far, the most interesting place is the "Museum Origins" rooms which highlights the collection of the Museum's founders. The stuff is straight out of a 19th century mad-scientist's lab: shrunken heads, all kinds of skulls, the skeleton of a man with giantism, a hand-written letter from Charles Darwin, and all kinds of bottles and jars of curious looking materials.
