Champa civilization
Located about 70 km. from Da Nang, these ruins represent some of the most important remains of the Champa culture, a Hindu civilization that peaked between the 4th and 8th centuries. They are in rough shape due to the U.S. bombing during the Vietnam War and the depredations of the French, but still have great a cultural significance and were declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1999.
