This church was built after the dissolution of Catholicism in Scotland, during the religious reform that happened here in the 16th century. The old church was looted and abandoned, and the church standing before us now was built. Building records indicate that several structural reforms have been carried out, however, according to historical documents the exterior structure is almost identical to the original. It is not possible to precisely date the exact construction date, however the oldest record (of a baptism) is from 1546, which leads us to believe that it was built in the first half of this century.
