Museum of Religious Icons

The Sibiel icon museum is next to the Orthodox Church in the village. It has a particularly large collection of icons made from glass. While most religious icons are made from wood, glass techniques were developed in the region of Trasilvania, Mures and the fagaras mountains. The patterns are very specific to each region, and in the museum you can see a total of 600 icons. Some come from further afield places such as Bucovina, Austria and others. Transylvania icons are the oldest, and are quite small, like a small photo. The pigments are natural and have been used to make simple drawings. The museum is open every day until five in the afternoon. While you are there, you must go and have a look at the church next door. It's a marvel.
