The history of surfing in Brazil
The history of surfing in Brazil began in 1938, in Santos, with the sixteen year-old Osmar Gonzalez. The first Brazilian surfboard was 3.9 m long and weighed 80 kg. This museum shows the history of the surfers who have passed through the beaches of Santos. You can see the evolution of surfboards over the years, from the huge wooden boards to the fiberglass boards of today. The museum is located in Santos, close to a skate park, and a point where you can watch the surfers and the sunset. A real must-see in the city.
