Curioseando en una shophouse
No se a vosotros, pero yo cuando visitó una ciudad me llama la atención saber como son las casas que hay en ella. Sobre todo si como en el caso de Malaca su exterior es tan singular.
Muchas de estas shophouses se han convertido en tiendas. Con ello conservan parte de su antigua función, ya que estas viviendas eran en su parte inferior delantera comercios, la parte trasera solía ser almacén, y la superior, la vivienda familiar.
Otras de estas casas son ahora hoteles. Pero hay un conjunto de shophouses fantástico que es ahora un museo. La visita a su interior ofrece la posibilidad de contemplar de primera mano como era la vida de las familias acomodadas de Malaca.
El nombre de este museo proviene del nombre que se dama a los chinos malayos: baba (hombre) y nyonya (mujer). En esta casa museo se puede conocer su forma de vida desde finales del siglo XIX a principios del XX. Perteneció a la familia Chan durante cuatro generaciones. Ellos fueron propietarios desde 1861 de la vivienda y aún sigue administrando el museo, abierto en 1985.
En la planta inferior se puede ver la cocina, el comedor, las salas de reuniones, el altar y hasta el baño. Arriba, la zona más privada de la casa, con los dormitorios. Merece la pena fijarse en los detalles para darse cuenta de que no falta nada, desde un ventilador hasta una radio, los dueños de la casa disfrutaron de una buena forma de vida.

I do not know about you, but when I visited a city, I was struck by the houses in it. Especially if as in the case of Malacca its exterior is so unique. Many of these shophouses have become shops. With this they retain part of their old function, since these homes were in their lower front trades, the back used to be warehouse, and the upper, the family home. Other of these houses are now hotels. But there is a fantastic set of shophouses that is now a museum. The visit to the interior offers the possibility to contemplate first-hand the life of the wealthy families of Malacca. The name of this museum comes from the name given to the Malaysian Chinese: baba (man) and nyonya (woman). In this house museum you can know their way of life from the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th. It belonged to the Chan family for four generations. They were homeowners since 1861 and still run the museum, opened in 1985. On the bottom floor you can see the kitchen, dining room, meeting rooms, the altar and even the bathroom. Upstairs, the most private area of the house, with the bedrooms. It is worth looking at the details to realize that nothing is missing, from a fan to a radio, the owners enjoyed a good way of life. It is forbidden to take photographs beyond the entrance.
