Well worth visiting
The Museum of London is little known but well worth visiting. Like most other museums in the British capital, it's free, and if you want to know more about the history of London, this is the place to go. Upon entering, I was struck by the large hand-drawn city map which shows the oldest shops in London. The tour starts with the prehistoric era and moves through the Roman period. Then comes the most interesting part, the plague striking the city, the war years, Beatlemania, Jack the Ripper (with cards offering information about potential suspects). The most vivid part is the area about the Second World War, with a sirens and the sound of explosions and screams, together with a video about survivors.
