The Warsaw Ghetto Wall

El Gueto de Varsovia fue el más grande de los Guetos judios de la Europa ocupada por los nazis, unos 4 km2, ocupando la mayor parte del centro de la ciudad y la via por donde pasaba una de las lineas de tranvía más importantes. Hay algunos restos del muro que ahora se han utilizado como pared de algun edificio, pero este el el trozo más grande y que mejor se conserva. Esta dentro de el patio de un edificio y si no te lleva alguien que lo sepa es muy raro que lo encuentres, ya que debes llamar a algún vecino para que te abra, o como hizo mi amigo darle un par de monedas al niño que estaba en la puerta (que con esa intención está, claro) Dentro del patio nos encontramos a un grupo judio de Brasil, con un guía argentino que les estaba explicando la historia y detalles del Gueto. Para mi fue muy interesante, porque la explicación era muy detallada, incluso con fotografías de la época, invitaba a la reflexión sobre aquella situación y al final pasaron a leer unas cartas de judíos del Gueto. Fue toda una suerte encontrarse a aquel grupo allí dentro. No es dificil encontrar grupos de judíos, ya que tienen la obligación de visitar los lugares del martirio. aunque aquell lugar en concreto no les gusta a los agentes del Mossad que van con ellos, ya que esta dentro del patio de un edificio, con una única salida y y amigo me contó que una vez un vecino les gritó algo, se pusieron nerviosos y el agente les hizo salir de alli rápidamente. Existen algunas corrientes antisemitas en Polonia.

El fragmento de la pared del edificio número 11 de la calle Waliców, en la parte occidental de la calle, formaba parte del muro del gueto; sobre lo cual informa una placa colocada en el lugar. Durante la guerra, en los anexos al edificio número 14 de esta calle vivió Władysław Szlengel; quien describiera en sus versos la tragedia de la población judía. El poeta murió durante el levantamiento del gueto. La frontera del gueto cortaba con frecuencia calles y plazas, e incluso dividía patios; como sucede en el caso del fragmento del muro en el número 55 de la calle Sienna.
