Mural by Jose Clemente Orozco
The Hidalgo Incendiario is an Expressionist Mural found on the walls and ceiling of the stairs in the Government Palace in Guadalajara. In the mural, Miguel Hidalgo stands out by his immediate size, bright colors, and warrior attitude. His right hand holds a torch waist high and his left fist is raised as a symbol of strength in defense of his political ideals. Underneath, battles fought by peasants who trusted him and followed him to death are depicted.
