Municipality of Alcântara

From San Luis de Maranhao you cross the bay of San Marcos on a ship heading towards Alcantara. It is a highly recommended trip. At the pier you can take a bus that leaves from the farthest place and from there you go on foot. What is striking about this place is that the ruins were not restored but are surrounded with an environment that makes them stand out better than if they had been.
