In Cisneros , a town in Palencia, the most prominent religious building is the church of San Primitivo and San Facundo . The church was declared a Historic-Artistic Monument in 1945. Of all the jewels contained in the temple, the Mudejar coffered ceilings are the most important. These coffered ceilings are located both in the sanctuary and in the Chapel of the Virgen del Castillo, highlighting the multifaceted dome of the altar.
They date from the 16th century and were constructed by Juan de Carpeil with large Moorish influences and fantastic Spanish ornamentation. Its location in the small Palencia village was influenced by Cardinal Cisneros. The other jewel, second in importance, is the Altarpiece that was built by Francisco de Giralte, who belonged to the Berruguete school.
