Breathtakingly beautiful
This is certainly one of the most revered and legendary mountains and points of interest in ancient Greece. Mount Parnassus, 2457 meters tall, is considered by the Greeks as a symbol and home of the Muses and the god Apollo. Who was Parnassus? He was the son of Poseidon and a nymph (hence the creation of the Oracle of Delphi). According to Greek mythology, springs flowed from this mountain giving to beautiful fountains. The most famous of all is the surrounding Castalia, a mythical forest of laurels in honour of Apollo. There, at the fountain, the nymphs and muses would dance and sing accompanied by the god Apollo and Lira.
